2. Az-Zahraa Islamic Centre

This scenic national historic site shares the stories of the oldest shipyard community in British Columbia, where once a diverse waterfront community stood, built on pilings and connected by boardwalks overlooking the Fraser River.
Explore the past and present of wooden boatbuilding at Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site. Join our resident shipwright at the Richmond Boat Builder’s building to learn about tools and techniques from the Western and Japanese boatbuilding traditions. Then, test your skills with a boatbuilding tool challenge!

8. Gurdwara Nanak Niwas: India Cultural Centre of Canada
Explore the Gurdwara and learn about basic concepts of Sikhism and the history of the Indo-Canadian community in Richmond. This gurdwara was established in 1985 and provides a spacious place of worship for the Sikh community and a popular location for weddings. The India Cultural Centre of Canada was one of the first religious buildings along Richmond’s “Highway to Heaven” and includes a community kitchen and prayer hall.

12. Nanaksar Gurdwara Gursikh Temple
Take a guided tour of this beautiful Sikh Temple and immerse yourself in Punjabi food and culture whilst listening to short explanations of the Sikh way of life. Built in 1984, the uniquely designed Nanaksar Gursikh Temple has been offering continuous prayers inside the inner sanctuary. Open 24 hours daily and welcoming people of all ages and cultures.

13. Peisen Ding, Branscombe House Artist-in-Residence | NEW, PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Explore various meanings of the word “home” and creating an inclusive and caring community through art activities such as drawing, painting and crafting. The Branscombe House Artist Residency takes place in a restored 1908 Edwardian-style house in Steveston. The workshops are part of the public program of the Branscombe House residency project “(Be)Coming Home”.

15. Richmond Caring Place
Richmond Caring Place Society is a home to 10 non-profit agencies and organizations located in the heart of Richmond.
Explore the Richmond Caring Place and admire the ceramic art exhibit in our lobby titled “About Face” by Japanese artist Kinichi Shigeno. Discover the Kaleidoscope Quilt, a collaborative piece created by nine members of the Textile Art Guild.
The Richmond Caring Place Board of Directors will be present to provide tours to the public. They will talk about the history of the Richmond Caring Place and highlight artwork and historical pieces. Our tenant agencies will have table booths set up in the foyer to provide information about their services.

Tour BC’s very first purpose-built mosque, which blends traditional and western architecture. View the various spaces in the facility and learn about the faith and practice of the world’s diverse Muslim communities. Meet members of the Richmond’s Sunni Muslim community, (which comprise the world’s mainstream majority Muslims) and enjoy multimedia and virtual reality presentations related to aspects of Islamic faith, practice, traditions, art, architecture, and history.

An integral part of that system are the 39 pump stations located around Richmond’s perimeter. Learn more about how these pump stations work to keep our city safe from floods from the people who design, operate and maintain them in this short video filmed at Horseshoe Slough Pump Station.

34. Steveston Buddhist Temple
Steveston Buddhist Temple, the oldest in the Lower Mainland, was originally built in 1928 on 1st Ave. The current temple, established in 1963, remains a vital part of Steveston’s cultural community.
Come and learn more about the Buddhist heritage with a tour and history lesson of the Japanese Canadian experience in Steveston. We will also provide cultural activities throughout the day.

The Ukrainian Community Society of Ivan Franko preserves and promotes Ukrainian culture through events, language classes, traditional meals, and community programs, enriching the city’s vibrant multicultural landscape.
