Important information for Partners who are registered for Doors Open 2024

As noted under the eligibility section to participate in Doors Open, you are required to have insurance.

Please read, sign and return the following form to us.

Form: Insurance Attestation

Forms must be returned by Wednesday May 15th. 2024

You have three options on how to returned a signed copy of this form.

• Drop it off in person at the Richmond Cultural Centre Front Desk (7700 Minoru Gate) – Attn :Sarah Shovlain (Richmond Museum)

Important Dates:

1. February 20th – Deadline to submit Registration Application
2. March 25th  (12pm-1pm) – Online Programming Session (optional)
3. April 14th (end of day) – Deadline to submit Programming Registration
4. May 15 – Return signed insurance attestation form
5. May 21st -31st – Partner Site package pick up from the Richmond Cultural Centre (7700 Minoru Gate)
6. June 8 – June 9 – Doors Open Richmond Event
7. June 10 – 17 – Return Doors Open signs and materials as required to the Richmond Cultural Centre

How to participate in Doors Open 2024:

To take part in Doors Open Richmond, partner sites need to:

• • Complete an initial online registration form in January/February and provide a contact person with access to e-mail for correspondence.
  • Complete a second online form in March that clearly defines your program or activities on offer.
  • Provide visitation statistics and general feedback after the event.

Eligibility

• • Located/active in Richmond, BC.
  • Offer FREE activities that promote multiculturalism and/or civic awareness.
  • Have a venue to offer these activities in and follow all building codes.
  • Have the staffing capacity to be active/open throughout the event.
  • Be open for at least one full day of the event.
  • Have insurance

Doors Open Richmond 2024 – Volunteer Opportunity:

We are looking for people who are:

1. Comfortable meeting new people from different backgrounds and ages.
2. Friendly, engaged and enthusiastic.
3. Over the age of 15.
4. Able to complete their role with minimal supervision.
5. Able to commit to showing up on time and working their full shift.
6. Able to speak another language is an asset.

Duties may include:

1. Meet and great the public and answer event related questions
2. Support on-site programs, which may include helping with signing visitors in at pre-registered sites or craft activities.
3. Set up and/or tidy up at end of the shift
4. Recommend nearby sites and share what programs are being offered

Volunteer registration for Doors Open Ambassadors will open on March 25, 2024 and continues till May 10, 2024. All volunteers must register through the City of Richmond’s registration system: https://icanhelp.richmond.ca/custom/501/volunteer_home

Participation in a 30 minute orientation and a minimum commitment to a 4 hour shift on June 8 or June 9 is required. Volunteers who are able to work a full day or both days will be given preference.

Volunteers will get experience working for a major event and learning more about Richmond’s diverse cultures and communities, while having the opportunity to give back to their community and making new friends along the way. Snacks will be provided for volunteers’ break time and their time will be appreciated by the event organizers.
