We welcome volunteers!Volunteers are valued members of the Richmond Museum and provide vital support for many aspects of the Museum’s work, including special events, such as Doors Open Richmond and the Richmond Regional Heritage Fair, exhibitions, school programs and collections.

Artefact Avenger – Preventative Conservation Museum Volunteer

Join the Artefact Avenger team and get up close and personal with history while discovering the City of Richmond’s rich collection of artefacts and inspiring local exhibits!
About the position:
Throughout the year the Artefact Avengers will visit several of the City”s heritage sites and museums to undertake basic ”preventative conservation” tasks to help prevent damage to artefacts and displays. This will include:
– detailed examination of artefacts on display
– creating condition reports for artefacts
– photographing any damage or deterioration
– gentle care and cleaning of artefacts
As you gain experience working with the artefacts, there may also be the opportunity to assist with projects at one of our three artefact warehouses. Projects may include collections inventory work, constructing storage mounts and retrieving and packing artefacts for exhibits. In September, Artefact Avengers will also have the opportunity to assist with the exhibit installation for Richmond Museum at the Minoru Cultural Centre.
The Richmond Museum Society Board of Directors is now accepting expressions of interest for new Board Members at museum@richmond.ca.
