FIELD TRIP FOR GRADES K–3

Discover Richmond’s diverse cultures by exploring multicultural winter celebrations, from First Nations to European and Asian traditions.

Play games and unwrap mystery presents that hold clues about cultural winter celebrations, then make a unique Christmas craft.

Big Ideas:

  • Diverse communities, stories and traditions about ourselves and our families (Kindergarten)
  • Diversity of individuals (Grade 1)
  • Diverse regions and communities (Grade 2)
  • Diverse cultures and societies (Grade 3)

Availability:

Late November to Early February

Morning 10-11:30AM OR Afternoon 12:30-2:30PM

Fee:

$160 flat rate, maximum 25 students. No additional charge for adult chaperones.

Animating History

FIELD TRIP FOR GRADES 4 AND UP

Discover unique stories about your local Richmond community through stop-motion animation.

Work with professional animators to storyboard a plot, create and animate characters, develop dialogue and add sound effects to create a two-minute video.

Choose from three themes. Click on the theme to watch a sample video.

Big Ideas:

  • British Columbia followed a unique path in becoming part of Canada (Grade 4)
  • Immigration and multiculturalism shape Canadian society and identity (Grade 5)

Availability:

This is a full-day workshop from 9:30AM-2:30PM and is only on offer from March to June 2026.

Fee:

$550 flat rate, maximum 30 students. No additional charge for adult chaperones.
