See Canada’s history through the eyes of Richmond children and youth.

Students research a topic in Canadian history, often a family or local story, develop an inquiry question that stems from their curiosity about that topic, and present their findings to the public.

Heritage Fair 2017

The 15th annual Richmond Regional Heritage Fair on May 12-13, 2017, was a success! Students enthusiastically presented topics from significant Canadians like Viola Desmond to current affairs, such as the climate change and the Canadian Arctic.

Over 400 Richmond students presented their projects at School Fairs. These projects were narrowed to 100 projects presented at the Regional Fair and from there, 5 projects at the Provincial Fair.

Program Highlights

Student Fair Day: Friday, May 12

Students presented their projects to their peers and to a panel of judges, and also took part in field trips and workshops.


  • – An exclusive workshop at Branscombe House with Artist-in-Residence Barbara Meneley
  • – A unique performance of Omnis Temporalis at the Richmond Art Gallery
  • – A special workshop with award-winning Canadian children’s book author, Deborah Hodge

Public Fair Day: Saturday, May 13

Students arrived throughout the day with their families to take part in activities that celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday. In the afternoon, local dignitaries presented special awards at the Closing Ceremony. Please find the award recipients here.
